Fruit Loop Cycling Tour & Palisade Classic Mountain Bike Race
Friday, Saturday, & Sunday May 8, 9, & 10
If you're looking for fun on a bicycle, look no further than the 2009 Palisade Bike Festival. This event combines the Palisade Classic Mountain Bike Race and the Fruit Loop Cycling Tour in a single day of bicycling activity. The Palisade Classic Mountain Bike Race may be just your thing if you like off-road competition. Or, if more sedate touring through gorgeous scenery on paved roads appeals to you, try the Fruit Loop Cycling Tour, which features three routes from easy to challenging. Better yet, ride in both events and enjoy the best of both worlds.
The Fruit Loop Cycling Tour starts and ends in Palisade. Ride through a pastoral setting of orchards and vineyards with Mt. Garfield, Grand Mesa and the Book Cliffs as your backdrop. Choose from 3 tour routes based on your abilities and desire: Easiest/16 miles, Challenging/20 miles, and Advanced/30 miles. We provide maps and each route is signed. The 2009 tour includes a Scavenger Hunt. Stops en route include area shops and wineries.
The Palisade Classic Mountain Bike Race departs from Palisade south around the flanks of Grand Mesa and around Horse Mountain. Course length will vary from 20 miles for beginner & sport to 35 miles for expert.
Grand Valley Marathon include the Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, 5K courses and allows runners to see some of the most historic and scenic areas in the Grand Valley. Participants run along the Colorado River, base of Grand Mesa, the historic town of Palisade, and along vineyards and orchards.
Party on the Plaza You’re invited to experience Palisade’s new, Town Center Plaza. Enjoy live entertainment, local vendors, and some of Palisade’s finest wines, distilled spirits and microbrews. You’ll want to “rock-out” to the sounds of the Charles King Band. Dancing is encouraged!
"Pig Tails & Wine Trails" The last in a series of spring’s self-guided tours, each artist presents fine works of art that reflect the uniqueness of the Palisade area.
Harley the Fish Dedication An eye-catching sculpture of a fish was made by Lyle Nichols from 500 hand-cut pieces of chrome from 45 Harley Davidson mufflers. Harley’s new home will be in Palisade’s Town Center Plaza. Come take part in his dedication.
